Singapore in May 15' Part 1

Kim aka my cousin suggested we getaway during the long 4-day holiday last week, didn't think I'd be going to Singapore anytime soon but spontaneity is probably my favorite thing in the world so it was a definite YES! We booked our flight+accommodation as soon as we confirmed the dates. So yay!! Got to get out of Malaysia for a bit and away from reality to just free the mind and galavant about on our own!

When I told people that I was going to Singapore, the first word that uttered from their mouths was "Expensive!" and yeah the exchange rate now is quite mad but oh well..CLOSE ONE EYE!

Our flight was at 6:10am, mom and dad took us there.. can't thank them enough!

I have a stick bird on my forehead, do you see it?
sg03
Matching outfits which were completely unintentional of course hehe. I had like an hour of sleep, explains the tired eyes :(

Our first destination was to Pasir Ris to visit our auntie and her family which included this cutie below..

Baby Jordan, stop that mesmerizing almond eyes please you're melting my heart <3 He's gonna be such a romeo when he grows up!

First time seeing fishball noodles that also included pork meat, pork ball and prawn! It was good though, you'll not find this in KL HAHAHA! :)

There was a long queue of people waiting to check in when we got to Studio M located on Nanson Road @ Robertson Quay. After checking in, unfortunately we had to wait 2 more hours because our room wasn't ready yet.

Welcome to the second floor where the pool, gym and makan area is. It is pretty spacious but you probably can't see it from the picture. I was sort of saddened by the pool's condition, quite pathetic actually.. was really looking forward to taking a dip. Though I was thrilled to find out that their gym was sufficiently equipped with good machines and had great ventilation! So.. Gym over Pool any day!

Satisfying <3
sg09
The heavenly bed in Studio M! It literally gives you the quicksand effect and the percentage of you getting out of bed especially after a tiring day is a sure 0. I won't lie though, I was quite surprised at how small the room was because in pictures it looked much bigger.. fooled by great photography pfft.

Studio M is famous for their conceptual loft rooms and I wouldn't deny how cool it is having a personal staircase in our room that led to a sofa bed and study table, though it did end up being pretty redundant as we didn't use the upper floor.. (sucker for cool things) The shower and toilet bowl were in separate small rooms. The size of the rooms are real compact like ngam ngam for you to stand and bathe and ngam ngam for you to pang sai and pang jio *ehem* HAHAHA!

Fortunately for the huge window that allows plenty of light to enter and the incredibly high ceiling, it was no doubt a lovely and cozy room.

An early night for us, was oh-so tired from the lack of sleep and walking. I also planned to exercise the next morning.. I mean just look at that double chin! hahaha!

Stay tuned for Part 2!

Whimsical Gelateria & Caffe by Cielo Dolci, Solaris Dutamas - "For 2 Please!"

Yang did some research and made a short list of the places we could try at around 10pm and one of it was Whimsical Gelateria & Caffe by Cielo Dolci. I remember passing by this cute little cafe while walking towards Barfly one night, what caught my eye was its adorable name! Just by saying "Whimsical" out loud turns me into a weird little happy kid! whimsical, icicle, tricycle, BICYCLE? i could go on and on... and i dare you to stop meeee.

Who would have thought gelato could mix really well with savory food? I for one wouldn't think it would be a great idea at all, i mean imagine a scoop of strawberry gelato on top of your aglio olio pasta, weeeeee-ird! The genius mind behind Cielo Dolci came up with all kinds of exotic flavors which will blow your mind! Have you heard of Bacon Gelato?... exactly..

Unfortunately we couldn't order the entire menu cause it was pretty late and we were only feeding two mouths. Scroll further to see what we had that night!

Tomato Basil Salad
don't be fooled by its simple outlook as it will shock you with its very unusual cooling sensation. instead of your regular creamy pesto dressing, go Basil gelato!

Not feeling very whimsical that day? Their gelato-free menu is pretty wide!

Burger Blues
beef patty with blue cheese! the patty was cooked to perfection and it looked like they use really good minced beef to make the patty, quite fatless... i actually felt healthy after every bite :P

We went to sample a few (almost all actually hehe) of their interesting gelato flavors and finally decided on Salted Caramel and Raspberry Cinnamon :)
SAM_3266
Yang called me a fatty for ordering 2 scoops so here's my not-so-guilty face!
SAM_3265 1
yeap! not an ounce of guilt!
The waffles were perfectly crispy, which is my personal favorite! Can't stand those soft and chewy ones bleh.
SAM_3267
quit trying to copy me you crazy cow :P
SAM_3269
dessert was so good we had to fight for the last bite! Salted Caramel was DE BOMB!!
SAM_3270
Saw a familiar face walking pass the cafe and he came in for a short chit chat! So good to see you again, it was nice catching up Derrek :D keep in touch :)

Anyway good news! They change their featured gelato's on a regular basis, so every visit will probably be a different set of awesome flavors! All in all, it was a fun experience at Whimsical! Will be back for more fun :)

Novotel KL City Center for Christmas and New Year!

Looking for a place to celebrate your Christmas or New Year's Eve? Well do not panic, it's not too late to head down over to Novotel KL with your loved ones for a feast!

I was lucky enough to be one of the first to experience their Christmas buffet and thankfully for the figure hugging outfit i wore that night, i managed to hold back or else i would have left looking 2 months preggers! hehehe!

Anyway I shan't bore you with anymore of my ramblings and proceed with some food pictures! Unfortunately by the time i got there quite a lot of food had been walloped by hungry guests but i did my best to take as many nice shots as possible. Enjoy!

Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar + Dolly Dim Sum @ Avenue K

Took my pirana out because she's back for the holidays once again, so happy to see her pretty face and there will be many more dates to come! She's one of those few friends i can really be myself with and so it's like a treat meeting her ever since she left for Kangaroo land.

So brunch it was! we were thinking to have something in Bangsar where we would normally have our dates but nah! decided to get out and head to town. i thought of Dolly Dim Sum as it is a relatively new restaurant with a lovely modern version of a traditional chinese tea house located in Avenue K. I also heard some good reviews about their food (despite it being halal, ya no real char siew pao *sad face*).

To our utmost surprise, Fresca Mexican Kitchen was sharing half of the restaurant space! they both share the same owner :)

We were feeling mexican + dimsum so we cross-orders between Fresca and Dolly!
